Can Flu Epidemics be Prevented?

Postby DearthVerbose » Mon Aug 05, 2013 1:48 am

The CDC states that flu is spread via inhalation yet they also state that the means to prevent spread is to wash the hands. This makes no sense to me. If it is spread via inhalation then the obvious method is to wear a filtering mask perhaps a surgical mask though I prefer a tighter fitting mask as those sold by 3M and others though I would prefer if they were available with a small motor and fan to ensure sufficient oxygen and removal of CO2.

The CDC recommends for the 2014-2015 flu season that everyone 6 months old and older should get a flu shot to prevent or reduce the chance of getting the flu. The best way to prevent novel H1N1 swine flu is vaccination. The 2014 CDC recommendations that apply to H1N1, H3N2, and other flu viruses are almost identical to those above-mentioned recommendations for patients at risk when vaccine doses are limited
