Tsunami warning system

Postby Jonathan A Logan » Thu Jul 05, 2012 11:53 am

Recently I wondered about the current state of affair with respect to a Tsunami Warning system. So far the scientist working in this field made great progress in giving accurate predictions if a Tsunami will happen, where it will hit the shore and when this will happen. Unfortunately there is currently no practical system available to warn those affected in time. SMS which has been proposed is far too slow and internet is in principle the optimal solution, but nobody has a fully operational and working system. At least as far as I know as an outsider.

Time to enter google adwords... adwords has properties which would make it the ideal canditate to build a warning system. You can place ads simultanously for all google users, based on keywords and focus on geographical areas. Regions of interest, so to speak.

It should be rather easy to access the predictions from the scientiest making the predictions based on their sensors, and it should be fairly easy to generate a super ad which would be seen by ALL users of google in the danger zone. Additionally this warning would be seen by ALL smartphone users in the area if an appropriate app were programmed. So if you know in 30 minutes the tsunami wave will hit a certain shore, all smartphone users and all users of google would receive a warning just in time. This could potentially save a LOT of lives.

BTW the A is a placeholder, it can mean anything... if I meet a girl I like it stands for AllYouEverDreamedof, if I have to handle a situation it stands for A-Team and if I am dreaming it stands for Almighty 8)

Submit a complaint to the Better Business Bureau that you are not getting a response from Google i.e. poor customer service, and give the details of your (very good...) idea.

Google will have someone internally monitoring this and will give you a response, which may be 'don't call us, we'll call you...' but at least you will know that it has been read and you will get the chance to state whether you were satisfied or dissatisfied with their response and rate them on BBB (and they do VERY MUCH care about these ratings!).

Very effective way to get pretty much any company to pay attention!
