Five AdWords tips to strengthen your PPC campaign

Postby haileyscott » Wed May 28, 2014 5:41 am

Many marketing strategies can be picked up quickly. Pay-per-click (PPC) isn't one of them. It's highly technical and has a steep learning curve. Once learned however, PPC can be one of your most powerful tools when it comes to driving traffic to your website and boosting sales. Many businesses owners who decide to give Google AdWords PPC a try aren't initially successful. If you don't know what you're doing it's very easy to blow through your budget quickly and have nothing to show for it. Before you throw up your hands in defeat however, here are five AdWords tips to make your PPC campaign stronger:

1.Track everything. One great thing about PPC advertising is that it's very easy to see where you're spending your money and what you're getting in return for your investment. If you're not having success with PPC, you can look at your data to see where you're going wrong. If you are moderately successful, you can look at your data to see what's working and what isn't. No matter how you're doing, you can do better if you track your data and learn from it. Watch which keywords are the most successful and pay attention to conversion tracking so you know how to constantly improve your PPC campaign

2.Combine PPC with SEO. PPC is a great tool all on it's own but it is even better when used with SEO. PPC might put you at the top of the results page, but people know that you paid for that spot. People are much more likely to visit your site when they see your site and as a paid advertisement and in the organic (natural) search results

3.Optimize your landing page. It doesn't matter how much traffic you drive to your website if your landing page isn't good. If you're going to invest the time and money in PPC to get people to your website, then you'll want to invest the time and money to make sure that landing page is as good as it can be. Not only does a good landing page make it more likely for consumers to convert but it will boost your quality score with Google which in turn will cause your ad to be shown more frequently in search results

4.Use site links and ad extensions. By using site links and ad extensions you can include multiple calls to action in a single ad. By having several calls to action, there's a better chance that one of them will appeal to someone. This is also a great way to see which calls to action work better than others. If you see that one isn't producing results then you know it's time to try something else

5.Increase your budget. This one can be a hard one especially if you're not already seeing good results with your PPC campaign. But as every business owner knows, you have to put in something to get something out. Once you're confident with the previous four steps you should start to see better ROI. It's now time to increase your PPC budget. Do it gradually and track the results. If you're doing in right, you should see an increased ROI as you increase your PPC budget
